We are excited to announce Cleo as our Partner of the Week, where we highlight one of our unique PlanSource Marketplace Partners and the value they bring to the benefits industry. We recently sat down to discuss their unique employee benefits and how they support family health, women’s health and caregiver support within the benefits industry.

What makes your company unique in the benefits space – what key benefits do you provide to employees?

Cleo is the first and only global family benefit that provides end-to-end caregiving support for all life stages:

  • Planning a family through exploring their fertility or through adoption or surrogacy
  • Experiencing pregnancy, from prenatal to postpartum
  • Parenting infants and babies
  • Parenting toddlers, kids, and preteens
  • Parenting teenagers
  • Parenting a neurodiverse child
  • Caring for an aging adult
  • Self-care support for the caregiver themselves, including emotional wellness, menopause support, and more
What industry problems are we solving with our partnership for HR teams and/or their employees?

There are real, hard costs associated with the lack of support many parents and caregivers receive from the workplace. The estimated cost of care-related absenteeism alone is $44 billion. Burnout; loss of productivity; distraction or “presenteeism;” increased healthcare spend for maternity, mental health, anxiety or depression; turnover costs; and more all add up to be a major impact to companies’ bottom lines. Cleo is providing structured, evidence-based support in a one-stop-shop for employees, so they can meet needs as disparate as finding a child care provider, understanding the risks of certain prenatal procedures, determining whether their teen needs to see a mental health specialist, or reviewing their parents’ options for in-home care—and every little or big caregiving issue in between. HR teams don’t need to investigate or field these issues themselves—Cleo handles it all.

What is one thing your company is doing to innovate your product/offering to change the industry?

Part of juggling caregiving responsibilities and work — especially for employees who are members of the Sandwich Generation, taking care of children and aging adults at the same time — is that it can be difficult to see the forest for the trees. Cleo is proactively screening members as they enter their ecosystem, so they can proactively address potential issues before they become big deals that affect both the employee and their employers. Their Family Health Index™ assessment allows them to measure caregiver health before Cleo’s interventions and after, so HR leaders can see the true ROI of the benefit.
