Carrot Fertility provides inclusive, comprehensive fertility healthcare and family-forming benefits. Companies use Carrot to customize an inclusive fertility benefit that provides employees financial, medical, and emotional support as they pursue parenthood and fertility care, reducing healthcare costs and resulting in better clinical outcomes. From supporting fertility health, assisted reproduction like in vitro fertilization, preservation like egg or sperm freezing, adoption, gestational surrogacy, pregnancy, menopause, and more, Carrot is designed to make care accessible and affordable for all.

We are excited to announce Carrot Fertility as our Partner of the Week, where we highlight one of our unique PlanSource Marketplace Partners and the value they bring to the benefits industry. We recently sat down to discuss their unique employee benefits and how they support fertility and women’s health within the benefits industry.

What makes your company unique in the benefits space – what key benefits do you provide to employees?

Carrot is the leading global fertility care platform for women, who are often at the center of fertility care decisions and consequences. Plus, Carrot serves people of every age, race, income, sex, sexual orientation, gender, marital status, and geography. Since day one, their mission has been to make fertility care accessible and affordable for all.

Carrot provides inclusive, evidence-based financial, emotional, and educational support to help employees reach their fertility health and family-forming goals. Whether there is a need for care through fertility preservation, male-factor infertility, pre-pregnancy, IVF, pregnancy and postpartum, adoption, gestational surrogacy, or menopause, Carrot supports members and their families through many of the most memorable and meaningful moments of their lives.

What industry problems are we solving with our partnership for HR teams and/or their employees?

Fertility and family-forming journeys can be physically, emotionally, and financially challenging for many people worldwide. Fertility is not only a global healthcare concern – it’s an important workplace issue.

They recently surveyed 5,000 people for their Global Fertility at Work report and found that no matter where people live, many are facing fertility challenges, seeking support, and turning to their employers for help.

  • Only 32% of respondents seeking to grow their families say they are able to afford fertility treatment, and 42% say that a new job offer with no fertility benefits would be a “deal breaker.”
  • 75% consider fertility benefits at work to be an important part of an inclusive company culture
  • 65% would change jobs to work for a company that offers fertility benefits

Companies see the value in offering fertility benefits to help attract and retain talent, and contribute to DEI goals. When companies invest in their employees’ health and well-being, it builds trust and loyalty, and employees are more likely to stay with their employer when offered comprehensive fertility benefits. In fact, 95% of employee members who use the Carrot benefit said they are more likely to stay at their company because they offer Carrot.

Carrot is also able to deliver clear and measurable cost savings for employers. Single embryo transfer (SET) is the single most predictive indicator of a singleton IVF pregnancy and subsequent successful live birth. Carrot’s industry-leading SET rate (93%) is independently validated by Milliman, a global leader in actuarial services. Their SET policy is clinically approved to guide members to safer practices that lead to healthier outcomes, which saves employers money in the long run.

What is one thing your company is doing to innovate your product/offering to change the industry?

At Carrot, they support their members on their lifelong fertility healthcare journeys – it’s important to think about not only what people need in their 20s and 30s, but how Carrot can support them in their 40s, 50s, and beyond.

Last year, Carrot became the first fertility benefits platform to introduce menopause and low testosterone support, and they’re continuing to invest in this area of healthcare.

Since first introducing menopause and low T support last year, more than half of their customers have added comprehensive support for menopause and low T as part of their fertility benefits package. For Carrot members, that means they have improved access to providers through a specialized network, clinically backed education, intimate group support in our virtual community, and, moving forward, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) coverage. Members can create a personalized Carrot Plan, receive telehealth access to specialized experts, participate in expert-led group sessions, access Carrot-vetted providers that support menopause and low T, and access additional resources, including registered dieticians and psychologists.
