Last week in Orlando, Florida, a team of PlanSource customers, resellers, and partners gathered to usher in a new era of benefits administration. Together we challenged outdated models and reimagined what the future of the workplace should look like in a world moving at the speed of AI and digital transformation.

If you missed it, or just want to relive the magic, here’s another glance at the future-defining roadmap, as shared by PlanSource’s leadership team.

Becoming the partner of choice

CEO Mike Morini laid out a bold vision: for PlanSource to become the partner of choice in benefits administration. And the strategy? Leverage AI to work smarter, ease the stress, and create better outcomes — for our customers, partners, and all the people we serve together.

But just as important as the technology is the mindset behind it: a team that’s listening.

CEO Mike Morini shares his vision for the new PlanSource, stating, “We’re not building this for you—we want to build it with you.”
That’s how transformation starts — with collaboration, not assumption. How is it done?
Where trust meets transformation

First and foremost, the vision is built on trust. PlanSource’s Chief Growth Officer, Greg Mercer, made it clear: trust isn’t given — it’s earned through exceptional service. Delivering quality support isn’t just part of our strategy, but the foundation of it. Greg made a promise to the room that will define how PlanSource does business moving forward: a commitment to better, smarter execution, led by a team of seasoned veterans, relentlessly focused on customer success.

But a promise means nothing without a plan. That’s why we’re backing it up by optimizing the way we work. Here’s how:

  • Establishing a practice leadership team to build clear, repeatable playbooks — and working closely with product teams to stay ahead of evolving tools and features.
  • A robust strategy to track performance at every stage of the customer journey, helping us spot issues faster and get better, faster.
  • And a new mantra: trust is built day by day, interaction by interaction.

Greg also highlighted the strategic improvements underway to simplify and streamline key moments: implementation, annual enrollment, and carrier and program changes. These are the milestones where experience matters most.

Do them right, and they build something bigger: trust that sticks.

Greg Mercer, PlanSource Chief Growth Officer, boldly states that trust is at the core of our delivery. He says, "We're going to make all of these experiences faster, easier, and more importantly, higher quality than ever before.”
We’re not just adapting — we’re innovating.
Making your workplaces smarter with AI

The next part of PlanSource’s strategy is to build a metaphorical Iron Man suit to custom-fit HR leaders. At the core of that suit is quality, ethical artificial intelligence (AI).

Mike Ehlers, Chief Technology Officer, took the stage to spotlight the transformative power of AI, and the importance of integrating it seamlessly within today’s benefits platforms.  “AI has the potential to make everyone better,” Mike says. “If you think about Tony Stark, he’s at the center of that Iron Man suit. He’s the thought behind it, but the Iron Man suit makes everything better.”

AI is central to PlanSource’s next big leap — and it’s already reshaping how HR teams operate, for the better. So what does that look like in action?

PlanSource boasts more API integrations with carriers than any other benefits administration provider. Our platform uses AI to configure these integrations faster and smarter, slashing manual work and reducing friction. This amounts to quicker rollouts, fewer disruptions, and a more secure, scalable experience.

And when it comes to quality, Mike outlined the steps we’re taking to raise the bar:

  • Evolving our product operations
  • Formalizing alpha, beta, and GA release gates
  • Shifting to monthly deployments
  • And embedding automated AI-driven testing into the development cycle
Mike Ehlers, Chief Technology Officer at PlanSource, sets the stage for the future by saying, “Imagine a world where you can communicate more effectively, speed up decision-making, and power smarter and more proactive experiences.”
These changes accelerate innovation while reducing complexity, all implemented with a strong focus on best practices.

What’s new at PlanSource

Benefits administration has been living in the dark ages. And because of it, there’s a technology and user gap that needs addressing. Solutions should focus on closing that gap with minimal friction — and doing it in a way that solves problems, rather than creating new ones.

Eddie Pinto, Senior Vice President of Product, and Jenny Wear, Vice President of Product Marketing, shared exciting updates on product enhancements, focusing on a more simple, personal, and connected experience for all stakeholders. Here’s what’s new:

"Benefits platforms have notoriously lagged behind other industries in delivering consumer experiences that actually inspire engagement. We're here to build a more simple, personal, and connected experience for employees, for employers, carriers, brokers, resellers, all of our stakeholders.”
A redesigned benefits experience

We took a closer look at the redesign of the employee experience, introducing a single, modern destination to help employees better explore, understand, and engage with their benefits. Key enhancements include:

  • Simplified, seamless navigation across devices
  • Clearer calls to action that lead users toward key decisions
  • Easier access to valuable tools and resources
  • An experience that empowers employees to easily discover coverage and resources most relevant to them
Guided, personalized enrollment journeys

Our newly designed enrollment flow mirrors a modern consumer-grade shopping-cart style experience, supporting employees through:

  • A personalized journey that reduces choice fatigue
  • Guided tools that build confidence in benefit decisions
  • A visual and intuitive interface that removes complexity
  • This upgraded process reflects how today’s users shop, compare, and finalize choices—empowering smarter enrollment experiences.
Smarter decision support tools

Our product leaders also introduced our all-new bundled decision support solution, available for this fall’s open enrollment. It simplifies the plan selection process by presenting balanced bundles for everyone, highlighting the full value of coverage between core benefits and often-ignored ancillary coverage. Behind the scenes, the actuarially validated decision engine leverages all available data to ensure the best choices for users, illustrating pay period costs, average yearly costs, and worst-case-scenario costs.

According to Eddie Pinto, Senior Vice President of Product at PlanSource, this next era will focus on bundled, priority decision support. He says, " “We're taking away this complex set of thoughts that people go through with cognitive overload. We make it easy for them, and then we take them through progressive discovery so they learn to appreciate the balanced bundle that we're putting in front of them, and why it might be a better choice."
The result? Less guesswork. Less feeling stuck. And more intuitive options at employees’ fingers.

Automated implementations

If there’s one message that’s loud and clear from our customers, it’s this: implementation is too often a pain point — manual, error-prone, and resource-heavy. That’s why we’re introducing an automated implementation tool that:

  • Guides users step-by-step through complex setup tasks
  • Applies AI-based validation and anomaly detection to minimize errors
  • Automatically generates customized requirements documentation from configuration data

This tool significantly accelerates and streamlines implementation, enabling faster and more accurate setups with less lift from HR teams and brokers.

A virtual assistant for HR administrators

HR teams are undergoing a major shift in how they communicate and operate — moving away from time-consuming, manual processes toward smarter, AI-assisted workflows.

To support these needs, PlanSource is introducing a suite of AI-powered tools designed to support HR professionals across the entire benefits journey.

Among these tools is our improved employee communications tool, which now features generative AI, enabling HR teams to quickly craft clear, impactful messages. Whether it’s open enrollment reminders, onboarding instructions, or urgent updates, messages can be fine-tuned for tone, format, length, and language in seconds. This not only saves time, but ensures employees receive timely, consistent, and on-brand communications.

“This jump-starts all of those communications for you,” says Jenny Wear, VP of Product Marketing.

By combining smarter communications with real-time support, these tools significantly reduce friction, especially during high-stakes, time-sensitive moments.

Coming soon is a new virtual assistant — a real-time, conversational guide that can help HR teams:

  • Enroll new employees
  • Troubleshoot administrative tasks
  • Quickly navigate complex benefit scenarios
  • Streamline communications
  • And more
Vice President of Product Marketing, Jenny Wear, explains how PlanSource is streamlining communications using AI. She says, "HR leaders wear many hats every day, from data miner to HR strategist to therapist. They're also expected to be communications experts, often without the support or time needed. That's why we've embedded generative AI into our existing employee communications tool, not only to drive speed but to create more relevancy for all the people you support."
Dynamic, AI-powered dashboards

We’re also reimagining how HR teams interact with benefits data. Starting later this year, our new dynamic dashboards use AI to help users:

  • Query complex data using plain language
  • Instantly visualize ongoing trends
  • Make faster, more data-driven decisions with confidence

By removing barriers between HR teams and the insights they need, we allow for more agile and strategic benefits administration.
