We recently sat down to discuss their unique employee benefits and how they support population heatlth and mental health within the benefits industry.
What makes your company unique in the benefits space – what key benefits do you provide to employees?
- Wysa focuses primarily on risk prevention – Their goal is to bridge the gap between preventive care and crisis escalation. They are the resources for individuals to identify and address potential issues before they become critical. They help companies implement strategies to mitigate the risks such as severe depression and suicide.
- Comprehensive support – Wysa’s approach to support is holistic and multifaceted. They start at the preventive care stage, offering self-help resources with AI triaging to empower users to build mental resilience. When needed, their team of human support professionals is ready to step in. Additionally, they have SOS triggers in place to swiftly redirect users to the most appropriate resources in times of crisis.
- 24/7, unlimited access – Wysa understands that help is often needed at unpredictable times. That’s why they provide round-the-clock support with no waiting time. Wysa’s services are accessible anywhere, anytime, ensuring that support is available whenever and wherever you are in the world.
- “Best of” for privacy and security – Wysa has been recognized as “best of” in terms of privacy and security. User anonymity is paramount. Their commitment to privacy is highlighted by our inclusion in Mozilla’s “Privacy Not Included” report, which evaluated 32 wellness services. They maintain complete user anonymity by not collecting any personal data. This approach encourages users to open up more willingly, knowing that their information is safe and secure, and they won’t face judgment for seeking help, which oftentimes is a major barrier.
There are serious, debilitating mental health concerns that our workforces are silently struggling with. Everyone deserves mental health care, and lack of mental health care access can impact an individual’s self-confidence and self-perception about their abilities and identity at work, which leads to perceived low self-efficacy, leading to poor performance and low productivity at work. Employees are not using mental health resources that companies have in place for a multitude of reasons.
In addition, there is a massive global shortage of mental health professionals in comparison to the demand of individuals seeking support. This has led to extended wait times for human support when they reach out for help. As mental health continues to be a main driver of top talent acquisition and retention, it’s important for employers to have a solution in place that is scalable and equipped to meet the demand of individuals who need access, no matter where they are in the world.
Wysa’s AI solves both of these problems. Their AI conversational agent intelligently triages individuals to resources based on their levels of anxiety and depression symptoms discovered in the initial PHQ-9 and GAD-7 assessments. All of their resources are derived from mental health clinicians and CBT practices. This preventative care approach reduces the need for human support but is available if necessary for 1 on 1 sessions. Since everything is anonymous, users are much more likely to open up.
Bridging support between physical and mental wellness.
Wysa realizes how closely chronic pain and mental wellness are connected. They’ve done extensive research on this and created a program specifically designed to help individuals suffering from chronic conditions and correlated mental health struggles.
Their AI-based digital companion recently received an FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, for the significant potential it has to reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety, reduce pain interference, and improve physical function.
