Betterment strives to optimize every dollar you spend, save and invest with them as their technology manages your money and helps you earn more. As your money grows and your priorities change, Betterment evolves with ongoing advice and updates to help you stay on track. No matter what you have in mind, from practical spending to big investing dreams, Betterment is here to help you make it real.

We are excited to announce Betterment at Work as our Partner of the Week, where we highlight one of our unique PlanSource Marketplace Partners and the value they bring to the benefits industry. We recently sat down to discuss Betterment at Work’s unique employee benefits and how they support financial wellness within the benefits industry.

What makes your company unique in the benefits space – what key benefits do you provide to employees?

Betterment at Work is an investing and retirement savings solution designed to empower employees on their journey to financial wellbeing, using our 401(k) solution as the foundation. Built on the same technology that powers our robo-advisor retail investment platform, Betterment at Work helps employees meet goals beyond retirement, with customizable portfolios, student loan management, easy-to-understand advice on how to save, and more. Our automation aims to simplify offering a 401(k) – at one of the lowest costs in the industry – and Betterment takes on the fiduciary responsibility for employee accounts, supporting personalized choice with expert management.

What industry problems are we solving with our partnership for HR teams and/or their employees?

Managing a 401(k) can be challenging. That’s why, as a full-service provider, Betterment does the heavy lifting, from ongoing administration to managing your employee’s investments, so you don’t have to. Betterment allows you to provide high quality financial wellness benefits to your employees, including goal-oriented investing and access to socially responsible portfolios through our mobile and desktop apps. Our platform simplifies managing a financial benefits program, all while empowering employees to save toward their financial goals.

What is one thing your company is doing to innovate your product/offering to change the industry?

The Betterment at Work Team understands that a quality 401(k) is just the beginning of a robust financial benefits program. Maintaining the 401(k) as the foundation, Betterment at Work has set out to offer complementary benefits that address the varying needs of a diverse workforce. From Student Loan Management to 1:1 sessions with financial advisors to soon-to-be-available 529s, Betterment at Work aims to provide a solution that goes beyond the 401(k) and raises the standard for employer-sponsored financial wellness benefits for employees.
