As CEO of PlanSource, Dayne Williams has advanced the use of benefits technology by driving several product innovations, including a mobile app that gives employees quick and easy access to their benefits, a solution for employers navigating the maze of regulations under the Affordable Care Act, two major software releases with enhancements that streamline benefits administration for employers and new tools for educating and engaging employees.

For these reasons and more, Williams is a recipient of EBN’s Dig|Benefits Technology Innovator Awards. The program recognizes visionaries who are driving technology innovation in the employee benefits space. Winners will be honored at the Dig|Benefits conference May 19-20 in Austin, Tex.

“Technology has already made a big impact on the employee benefits landscape, but there is much more to come,” says Williams. “I think in the next 10 years, we will see the full realization of the vision of a consumer-driven retail marketplace for employee benefits.”

Similar to the changes that occurred in the pension and retirement space over the past 30 years, technology will act as the catalyst to change the way healthcare benefits are bought, sold and managed, believes Williams.

“And like retirement savings, employers will still play a major role in facilitating healthcare coverage and all flavors of employee benefits. New developments in software will drastically streamline the administration of benefits, and I believe we’ll see a collision of HCM [human capital management], benefits and ERP [enterprise resource planning] systems,” he says. “This is going to mean a great deal for employees, giving them much more control over how they obtain coverage and providing true insight into how they are using their benefits. They will have a completely customized, truly personalized experience guided by hyper-powerful algorithms pulling data from combined systems.”
